Maddie's 1st Birthday

Just typing those words brings tears to my eyes!  How has it been a year?  How is she already a year old?  It has just flown by so fast.  And she is just the sweetest, most precious little girl.  What a gift.  And you know, a year ago we didn't know if she was a boy or girl when they rolled me into the ER.  And we didn't really have a preference on what we "wanted".  But now, I can't imagine not having a little princess.  And she is all of our little princess.  She is a big time Daddy's girl.  She thinks Will is hilarious and he is usually really good with her.  And she just makes me smile, laugh, and want to hug her!  But don't let that fool you - she is going to be a tough one!  I guess some of that is just the results of having an older brother.  She isn't really scared of much and she thinks she can already hold her own with Will.  She takes toys from him and even tried to tackle him once!  Hilarious!

Maddie is doing well with food and now prefers finger foods over baby food.  She is completely off of formula and drinking milk (thanks to the Similac recall we did it a little early).  She sleeps great, loves to play, doesn't want to be held much, is crawling everywhere, pulling up, and trying to stand on her own, and has a funny little laugh.  She has a bit of a space between her front two teeth that I love.  It is so cute and I hope she keeps it!  And her curly hair is a mess most of the time and is so cute!  When she gets sweaty it curls even more and after baths they are super tight.

For her birthday, today, we went to the Arboretum with friends and then went to Mi Cocina for dinner.  We came home and Maddie opened gifts from Mommy, Daddy, and Will.  Then we split a cupcake before bath time.   It was a great day!
